With reference to your letter of the 6th, inst. No.1064, I am directed by the Major-General Commanding, to ac- quaint you that there is no Military objection to the sale of the land applied for at Kwo Lo Wan in Kowloon, and required for an extensive manufacturing business with the following

restrictions.-

1. The War Department to have the right of de- molishing any or all buildings or erections found to be detri- mental to the defence in time of war without notice or com- pensation to the owners.

2. The encroachment on the existing Military Reserve to be fenced in on the South and East sides with an

open unclimbable steel fence set on concrete blocks to the satisfaction of the War Department.

3. No main factory chimneys or kilns to be erected on the existing reserve. This will not exclude ordina-

ry chimneys required for getting up steam in boilers or such
